How to Hard Reset Samsung Galaxy Y or Young GT-S5360

For taking .apk backups for your applications in the phone you may use applications like 'Clean Master'. Data in your memory card and contacts in SIM card will not be lost during hard reset. All the settings will be reset to the default values because the whole operating system of the phone is refreshed. You can try the following method of hard reset even if your phone is not turning ON.

After taking backup, follow the given steps:


  1. Switch off your phone first
  2. Press and hold following three buttons together and switch on the phone without releasing these buttons: Power button + Home button + Volume button.

  3. If you switch on the phone keeping these three buttons pressed, you will be led to a menu. 'Volume up'and 'Volume down' buttons are used for navigation. 'Home' button is used to select an option. Press 'volume down' button twice to highlight 'Wipe data / Factory reset'.  Press 'Home' button to select it.
  4. Press 'volume down' until the option 'Yes -- delete all...' is higlighted. Press 'home' button to select it.
  5. Within a few seconds, the phone will be reset and data will be wiped. In the coming screen, the option 'Reboot system now' will be already highlighted. Press 'home' to select that option.
  6. Your phone will restart automatically. Done. Now you can configure your phone as if you have bought new one.
